Range of expressions!

In the pen-world brimming with analogies, metaphors and similes, the human body; or as the French call it “Le Corps”; stands out as an entity of its own. Every part of our anatomy is remembered in the lofty language, while making comparisons, giving examples or imparting knowledge…

The jutting out of the “chin”…

A resolution, some stubbornness of the mind is shown by this small gesture. To tell the brain to lunge forward, to take the step which it is afraid or reluctant to take.

The looking down the “nose”…

Contempt, disdain swims in the eyes while looking at someone, understandably below the level of the nose. In order to show the utter lack of happiness, while laying eyes on the particular specimen.

The “jiggling” of the eyebrows…

Teasing, light banter between friends and close ones. To insinuate or wriggle out some funny or blush-worthy secret from a loved one. This is the ultimate show of naughtiness and chirpiness.

The flashing of the “eyes”…

This part of the body has been given the most importance by writers galore. The Eyes… They are called the mirrors to the soul, the most expressive of all senses. It’s hard to keep the eyes stable and untouched by the churning of the mind wheels. Whatever takes birth in the brain, is brought forth by the eyes….

From “blazing” in anger, to “flashing” with angst,

From “fluttering” with pleasure, to “brimming” with pain,

From “widening” with incredulity, to “shutting” down in hurt,

From “scrunching” in disgust, to “softening” in love…The eyes can say it all. Words aren’t required.

The “flailing” of the hands…

To show restlessness, anxiety, disquietude, one unconsciously starts swinging and moving hands, unmindful of the direction, style, way or propriety. The best giveaway of an anxious mind.

The “shuffling” of the feet…

Another symptom of restlessness. The need and the want to spill out something from the mouth, is shown through the inability of the feet to stay still. The back and forth of the mind is displayed in the left and right of the legs.

The “swaying” of the hips…

Coyness and the come hither stance, employed mainly by the fairer sex, but men also partake in the joy of swinging their booty. It’s a fun gesture, showing the soaring openness of the mind.

The mind is an illusionist, a “chaliya” (magician), which can capture one in it’s throes and swirl so hard in the whirlwind of emotions, that all semblance of clarity and understanding is lost. It’s hard to read what goes on in the millions of minds all over, but the senses and the body reacts the same.

As Ralph Waldo Emerson rightly says, “What you do, speaks so loud, I can’t hear what you say”

One should just know how to read the body and voila, the most intricate and complex minds can be revealed…

Lemonade!!

I love the colour, taste, flavour and aroma of lemonade…

Neither tangy, nor sour;

Neither sweet, nor salty;

Neither yellow, nor white…

The smell is citrusy, hence lifts the spirits instantly; the aroma is fresh, hence wipes away all tiredness; the taste is the perfect blend of sweet, sour, tangy…with just the right amount of bitterness, which doesn’t spoil the taste, yet prevents the senses to go haywire with the sweetness…

Now, coming back to the reason of my mooning and swooning over a thing as inconsequential and banal in the grand scheme of things; or, if we can say, in the grand scheme of our plans in life….

So, yesterday evening, I was in the “not-so-tough” task of preparing fresh lemonade for myself. I stirred in the sugar, which mixed perfectly with the water (if you actually try to see the granules later, it’s impossible to tell the sugar from the water, isn’t it? It mixes so totally with it!) Then came the pinch of salt, which again blended immediately. Last, I added the drops of lime juice…

Have you ever noticed how the droplets of lime juice enter, swirl, dance, kiss and finally become one with the water??
The yellow colour, which is quite dense, mixes with the colourless water and gifts itself completely to it….thus losing its identity and in turn making the water colourful and tasty!!
In return, the water takes away it’s sourness and tanginess and gifts it with becoming the drink which almost everyone loves!!

To become something better, even at the risk of losing a part of oneself… isn’t it better in the greater scenario?

It’s not just the question of becoming sweet or everyone’s favourite…It’s the question of losing oneself to find one’s essence and aroma; to find the full capability of oneself; to become the grander version of oneself…

In actuality, the lemon never disappears or loses itself…It just magnifies and betters it’s essence.
The drink is still called “Lemon-ade”……
The water, sugar, salt just add to the life of the lemon…

As Gulzar Saheb says….
“Katra katra milti hai,

Katra katra jeene do,

Zindagi hai, behne do,

Pyaasi hun main, pyaasi rehne do”…

Sometimes a little thirst is all that’s required to make or become that lemonade…Isn’t it??
